ISIS attacks a ceremony in Afghanistan

A ceremony in Dasht-e-Barchi , Kabul for “the 1995 slaying of Abdul Ali Mazari, the leader of Afghanistan's ethnic Hazaras” was attacked by ISIS, the Islamic State group. ISIS is at war against the Afghani Shiites, who were the majority of the attendants of the ceremony. The attack killed 32 people, injuring 81 people.[19]

Ceasefire in Syrian remains, but an armed minority group attacked the Syrian Army

The parties of the Syrian War cease-fire have been faithful, but jihadist insurgents of the Turkistan Islamic Party attacked the Syrian Army in the Jabal al-Zawiya region in the south of Idlib province. The attack resulted in 15 killed.[20]



Tunisia endures an unclaimed terrorist attack.

A police patrol of the US Embassy in Tunisia approached the two terrorists before they exploded themselves. One of the police officers died, and the four others of the patrol were injured. No entity claimed the terrorist attack.[21]

Turkey rescue refugees after Greek coastguard incident

Three dinghies, inflated water vessels, carrying 120 refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, Iran and various African countries, sought shelter in the Greek island of Lesbos. The dinghies were pulled by a motor boat, and the Greek coastguard stopped their voyage by disconnecting the inflated water vessels from the motor boat. They were left to be rescued by Turkey’s coastguard. The Island of Lesbos is only 16 miles from the Turkish coast. [22]

Mexico State-owned Oil Company builds on protected forest land

Pemex, a state-owned company of Mexico, invests 8 billion dollars to build an oil refinery on protected mangrove tree land. The government received an order by the ASEA, an industry regulator, to cease the deforestation, and the contractor, clearing the forest, was fined 700,000 dollars mid last year, yet the construction continues today.[23]
